Hanford, Calif. – Triple-digit heat will blanket the San Joaquin Valley through Saturday as a heat advisory remains in effect, raising concerns for health and safety across Central California. Afternoon highs could peak at 106 degrees in Hanford by Friday, with little overnight cooling to offer relief.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, the heat advisory runs until 8 a.m. Saturday, covering Kings, Tulare, Fresno, and Madera counties. Daytime highs between 102 and 106 degrees and overnight lows staying in the mid-70s create dangerous conditions, especially for those without air conditioning.
The prolonged heat will stress power grids, increase wildfire danger, and make outdoor activity hazardous. Officials urge residents to limit time outdoors, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Pets should remain indoors, and no one should be left in parked cars, even for a short time.
Conditions will begin to ease slightly by Sunday, though temperatures will remain above 100 degrees. Another stretch of hot, dry weather is expected into early next week.
