Hanford, Calif. – Residents across central California will face dangerous heat through the weekend, with temperatures soaring as high as 107 degrees from Friday into Sunday morning. Overnight lows will provide little relief, holding in the mid-70s.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, the heat advisory begins at 11 a.m. Friday and remains in effect until 8 a.m. Sunday. The advisory covers a wide swath of the San Joaquin Valley, including Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Madera, and Kern counties.
Daytime highs from Hanford to Visalia and into Fresno are expected to top 103 to 106 degrees, while outlying areas such as Lemoore, Atwater, and Corcoran will experience similar conditions. The warm nighttime lows mean air conditioning will be critical for safety, especially for seniors and those without reliable cooling.
Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor activity during the peak afternoon hours. Light, loose clothing, hydration, and early morning or evening errands are advised. Neighbors are encouraged to check on vulnerable family members and friends, as the risk of heat illness and heat stroke increases during extended hot spells.
The advisory is set to expire Sunday morning, but forecasters note more heat advisories may be issued if conditions persist into next week.
