Hanford, CA – The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the southern portions of the San Joaquin Valley from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, warning motorists of extremely low visibility on major highways during the early morning hours.
The advisory includes Highways 41, 43, 99, and 198, where visibility could fall to as low as 200 feet, creating hazardous travel conditions. Areas near Fresno, Visalia, and Hanford are expected to see the densest fog through sunrise. The NWS categorizes the risk as “high for transportation,” urging drivers to reduce speed, use low beam headlights, and allow extra space between vehicles.
Travelers should anticipate possible delays and sudden drops in visibility, especially along rural routes and low-lying sections of the valley. The fog is expected to lift by midmorning as temperatures rise and winds increase slightly.
Motorists are advised to check road conditions before traveling and to remain cautious until visibility improves.
