Fresno, CA – The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for much of the San Joaquin Valley, in effect from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. PDT Friday.

Visibility is expected to drop to one-quarter mile or less in spots, creating hazardous driving conditions for the Friday morning commute. The advisory covers cities including Fresno, Clovis, Hanford, Merced, Lemoore, Wasco, Shafter, and Los Banos, along with nearby rural areas.

According to meteorologists, the thick fog will form during the early morning hours, particularly in low-lying areas and along major highways such as Highway 99 and I-5. Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra distance between vehicles.

Conditions are expected to improve by late morning as the fog gradually lifts with daylight and warming temperatures. The weather service advises commuters to plan for delays or slower travel speeds through mid-morning.

This advisory follows a pattern of cool, calm nights leading to valley fog development, common across Central California during late October.
