Hanford, CA – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for the southern and central San Joaquin Valley through noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.
Forecasters report visibility reduced to one-quarter mile or less in many areas, creating hazardous driving conditions across portions of Kings and Tulare counties, including the cities of Hanford, Visalia, Porterville, Corcoran, and Delano.
The advisory also includes communities such as Wasco, Shafter, Lemoore, and Reedley, where thick fog has developed overnight and persisted into the morning hours. The Weather Service warns drivers to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve by late morning as temperatures rise and the fog lifts across the valley floor. However, motorists traveling along Highway 99 and nearby rural routes should remain alert for sudden drops in visibility through midday.
This dense fog event is typical for late October in the San Joaquin Valley, where calm winds and cool overnight temperatures allow moisture to condense near the surface.
