Hanford, CA – Central California residents may see a brief return of warm weather this week, with temperatures potentially topping 90 degrees on Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.
The agency said a cutoff low-pressure system sitting off the California coast is allowing for slightly warmer conditions early in the week. Afternoon highs will be near seasonal averages, but the San Joaquin Valley and surrounding foothills face a 30 to 40 percent probability of exceeding 90°F on Tuesday.
According to forecasters, areas most likely to reach the 90-degree mark include Fresno, Visalia, and Bakersfield, while higher elevations and coastal areas will remain cooler. The heat will be brief, however, as the weather pattern begins to shift midweek.
“Temperatures are expected to trend cooler by next weekend,” the Hanford NWS office said in its Monday morning update. The developing coastal low is forecast to move inland later this week, bringing slightly cooler, breezier conditions for the Central Valley and Sierra foothills.
Drivers and outdoor workers are advised to take precautions during the midday heat and stay hydrated.
