Little Rock, Arkansas – Wet roads and reduced visibility will spread across Arkansas by Friday evening as a steady round of rain pushes in, bringing up to 2 inches of much-needed rainfall through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, rain will begin moving into western Arkansas late Friday and expand statewide overnight, continuing through much of Saturday as a cold front sweeps east. Most areas, including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Searcy, are expected to receive around 1 to 1.5 inches of rain, while western cities like Fort Smith, Mena, and Fayetteville could see totals closer to 2 inches.

Drivers along I-30, I-40, and I-49 should expect slick conditions and periods of reduced visibility, especially during heavier bursts late Friday night into Saturday morning. While severe weather is not the primary concern, steady rainfall could lead to minor ponding on roads and slower travel during peak weekend hours.

The rain will help ease dry conditions across the state, though officials note it will not eliminate ongoing drought concerns. Residents should allow extra travel time, check drainage areas near homes, and avoid driving through standing water.

Drier and cooler air moves in by Sunday, with more stable conditions expected to start the new week. Additional updates may follow if rainfall totals increase.
