Little Rock, Arkansas – Thunderstorms packing damaging winds, heavy rain, and a chance of tornadoes could slam Arkansas by Tuesday afternoon as an unsettled weather pattern strengthens across the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, conditions will remain relatively calm through early Tuesday, but severe weather threats will rapidly escalate later in the day. Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop first over northern Arkansas before spreading statewide into Wednesday, with flash flooding possible as multiple rounds of heavy rain move through.
Cities like Fayetteville, Harrison, and Mountain Home may face the brunt of the storms Tuesday evening, while Little Rock, Conway, and Pine Bluff could see intense rainfall and gusty winds overnight. Roadways along Interstate 40 and Highway 67/167 may experience hazardous conditions, especially during the evening commute.
Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, charge devices in advance, and stay updated as a cold front increases the risk for widespread thunderstorms. While hail and damaging winds remain the primary threats, isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out with this system.
Thunderstorm chances will linger across Arkansas through Wednesday, with additional weather advisories possible as the system evolves.
