Phoenix, AZ – Moisture moving ahead of Hurricane Priscilla is expected to spark isolated showers and thunderstorms across parts of central Arizona on Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025, according to the US National Weather Service in Phoenix.

Forecasters say the activity will primarily impact higher terrain areas east of Phoenix, where rain chances range from 10 to 30 percent. The Phoenix metro area itself faces less than a 10 percent chance of measurable rainfall.

According to the Weather Service, any storms that develop could bring quick heavy downpours, producing up to a quarter inch of rain in localized areas. Gusty outflow winds are also possible, with a 5–10 percent chance those winds could reach into the lower desert areas, including parts of Maricopa County.

Residents are advised to watch for wet roads, brief visibility reductions, and potential blowing dust during stronger gusts. No widespread flooding or severe weather is expected, but conditions may change quickly if isolated storms form.

The National Weather Service urges drivers and outdoor workers to stay alert for shifting winds and slick roadways Wednesday afternoon.
