Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued dual weather alerts for much of Arkansas, with dense fog this morning followed by a hard freeze expected late Sunday into Monday.
The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CST Saturday, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in many areas. Drivers should expect hazardous travel across Interstate 30, I-40, and Highway 67/167, especially near low-lying and river valley areas.
Following the fog, much colder air is expected to sweep in. The Freeze Watch goes into effect Sunday evening through Monday morning, with temperatures potentially falling as low as 20°F across portions of central, eastern, and southern Arkansas.
Forecasters warn the cold snap could kill sensitive vegetation, end the growing season, and damage unprotected plumbing. Residents are urged to wrap exposed pipes, cover plants, and bring pets indoors before temperatures drop.
This weather shift marks the coldest air mass of the season so far, ending a stretch of mild fall weather across the state.
