Philadelphia, PA – Drivers across the tri-state area may face flooded roads and rising streams early Saturday as torrential rain pushes through overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Flood Watch remains in effect until 8 a.m. for much of New Jersey, southeastern Pennsylvania, and northern Delaware. Cities under the alert include Philadelphia, Trenton, Morristown, Allentown, and Wilmington.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected in a 6 to 12-hour window, with localized downpours dropping 1 to 2 inches per hour. The intense rain may cause creeks and streams to rise rapidly, especially in low-lying and urban areas.

In New Jersey, communities from Sussex County down to Camden and Salem could see ponding on roadways and flash flooding near the Raritan and Delaware River tributaries. Southeastern Pennsylvania, including Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester counties, should prepare for street flooding and reduced visibility during the morning commute. Wilmington and surrounding parts of New Castle County, Delaware, are also at risk.

Residents should avoid driving through flooded roads and have a backup power plan in case of basement flooding or outages. Emergency alerts may follow as conditions evolve.

The Flood Watch remains active until 8 a.m., with additional warnings possible if rainfall intensifies.
