Oklahoma City, OK – Parts of central and northern Oklahoma could see dangerous flooding overnight as rounds of heavy thunderstorms bring up to 5 inches of rain through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman and Tulsa, Flood Watches are in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday across a broad stretch of the state, including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Enid, and Stillwater. The most likely rainfall totals range from 1 to 3 inches, with isolated pockets seeing 3 to 5+ inches.
Counties under watch include Oklahoma, Canadian, Payne, Tulsa, Osage, Creek, and Lincoln, among others. Flash flooding may occur in low-lying areas, small streams, and urban roads—especially where drainage is poor. Major roads like I-35, I-40, and the Turner Turnpike could be impacted.
Residents are urged to avoid driving through water-covered roads and to monitor weather alerts overnight. Charge devices now in case of power outages, and prepare to shelter in place if roads become impassable.
Thunderstorms will continue to track southeast through the early hours, and additional flood advisories may follow.
