Birmingham, AL – Central Alabama could see two rounds of severe weather Tuesday, bringing threats of damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and large hail, according to the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Forecasters say the first round of storms is expected between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday, mainly across west and southwest Alabama, including Demopolis and Tuscaloosa. The second round will move through between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., impacting a wider area from Birmingham to Montgomery and Auburn.

Both rounds carry the risk of gusts up to 60 mph, quarter-size hail, and brief tornadoes. The NWS advises residents to have multiple ways to receive warnings and to ensure access to sturdy shelter overnight and throughout the day.

After the storms pass, temperatures will drop sharply, with highs in the 50s by Wednesday and lows in the 30s. Thanksgiving Day is expected to be cool and dry, providing calmer weather for holiday plans.

Rain chances are highest Tuesday at 90–95%, then fall below 10% by Thanksgiving.

Residents across central Alabama are urged to stay weather-aware and monitor updates from @NWSBirmingham as the situation evolves.
