Birmingham, AL – Clear skies and gusty winds will shape conditions across central Alabama today, with afternoon travel seeing occasional wind gusts strong enough to impact high-profile vehicles on exposed roadways.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 70s by mid-afternoon Tuesday, with northeast winds between 7 and 14 mph and gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Dry conditions and full sun will dominate much of the state through sunset.
In Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and along the I-20 and I-65 corridors, highs will range from 75 to 78 degrees, while cities like Montgomery and Selma could briefly touch 78 degrees during peak heating. Drivers on elevated stretches and bridges should remain alert for brief wind shifts during the afternoon.
By tonight, winds ease significantly and skies begin to clear further, allowing temperatures to fall into the mid to upper 40s by early Wednesday morning. Cooler pockets near Gadsden and Anniston could dip closer to 44 degrees.
Wednesday brings another round of quiet weather, with partly sunny skies and highs again in the low to mid-70s. Light east winds between 5 and 10 mph will keep conditions comfortable.
Dry weather remains in place through midweek, with no major advisories expected, though updates will follow if wind conditions increase.
