Birmingham, AL – Showers and storms are tracking north into Alabama this morning as an area of low pressure moves off the Louisiana coast, according to the US National Weather Service Birmingham.

The heaviest rainfall is expected to stay south of Central Alabama, but light rain is possible in parts of the region by this afternoon. The Weather Service reports a 20–40% chance of showers for some southern counties, including Montgomery, Demopolis, and Troy, as Gulf moisture spreads northward.

Forecasters say high temperatures will reach the upper 70s to low 80s across much of the state, with mostly cloudy skies and breezy easterly winds continuing throughout the day.

Radar early this morning showed heavier rain bands remaining closer to the Gulf Coast, particularly in southern Mississippi and coastal Alabama. Conditions are expected to remain unsettled into the evening, though widespread severe weather is not anticipated at this time.

Residents in southern Alabama should monitor forecasts for updates as additional rainfall could develop tonight and Sunday.
