Cedar Lake, IN – A Cedar Lake woman was tragically killed Monday night after a tree fell on her house during a severe storm. Laura Nagel, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8902 W. 141st Lane, according to a press release from the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
According to the Lake County Coroner, the incident occurred around 10:19 p.m. The Lake County Coroner and Medicolegal Death Investigation team were dispatched to the location following the report of the accident. Family members identified Nagel at the scene. The official cause of death is pending an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point.
The storm, which caused significant damage throughout the area, saw high winds and heavy rain. The severe weather uprooted trees and disrupted power lines, causing widespread outages. The Cedar Lake Police Department, Cedar Lake Fire Department, Hanover Township Fire Department, and Cedar Lake Street Department responded to the incident.
