Cedar Lake, IN – A Cedar Lake man was arrested Saturday for allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old girl.
The Cedar Lake Police Department, in collaboration with Lowell Police, uncovered that Susano Avila Jr., 47, had taken the minor to the Economy Inn in Cedar Lake, where he allegedly performed sexual acts and provided drugs and alcohol.
According to Deputy Chief Carl Brittingham, Avila believed the girl to be 19 years old, a claim he made following his arrest. The police determined this was the second instance Avila had brought the girl to the hotel.
Avila, from Thornton, Illinois, faces charges including three counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The investigation is ongoing, with additional charges expected.
