Albuquerque, NM – The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Freezing Fog Advisory for the West Central Plateau and West Central Mountains, in effect until 8 a.m. MST Tuesday.

Meteorologists warn that visibility may drop to one-quarter mile or less in freezing fog, particularly along Interstate 40 near Gallup and State Highway 53 between El Morro and Ramah.

The combination of dense fog and below-freezing temperatures could lead to icy patches on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads, making early morning travel hazardous.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra following distance when driving through fog-prone areas. Conditions are expected to gradually improve by mid-morning as temperatures rise and the fog dissipates.
