Binghamton, New York – Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility are creating hazardous travel conditions across the Southern Tier and nearby northeastern Pennsylvania as a winter weather advisory remains in effect through Sunday evening. Drivers across rural highways and mountain routes are likely to encounter slick conditions that worsen later today.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, periods of snow will continue across Delaware and Sullivan counties in New York, along with Northern Wayne, Pike, and Southern Wayne counties in Pennsylvania. Additional snowfall of one to three inches is expected, pushing storm totals into the two- to five-inch range by the time snow ends late Sunday.

Communities including Delhi, Walton, Monticello, Honesdale, Milford, Damascus, and Equinunk may see a temporary lull in snowfall late this morning. Snow is expected to redevelop this afternoon and early evening as a coastal system strengthens, leading to renewed impacts during the latter part of the day.

Road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly once snow redevelops, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and higher elevations. PennDOT and New York transportation crews continue monitoring conditions, but motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time.

Snow is expected to taper off by late Sunday evening, though icy patches may linger overnight. Winter weather advisories remain in effect through 10 p.m., and additional updates may be issued if snowfall intensity increases.
