Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis police are investigating a shooting at Castleton Square Mall that occurred Monday evening around 8:30 p.m.
Off-duty officers, including an IMPD sergeant and an MCSO captain, working security for Simon Malls, quickly responded to the scene. IMPD North District officers arrived within minutes and secured the area. Shoppers were evacuated for their safety as investigators worked to understand the situation.
About an hour after the incident, a man with gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital. Police believe he was injured during the mall shooting and are investigating his involvement in the dispute. His condition is stable.
Preliminary reports suggest the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between individuals who knew each other. Investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.
Damage inside the mall includes a bullet hole in a wall and an arcade machine.
