According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash around 11:30 p.m. on Ironwood Road near Judy Lane in the Township of Milton. The crash involved a northbound vehicle that collided with a downed tree obstructing the entire roadway.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Gonzalez of Niles, Michigan, reportedly struck the tree, causing his vehicle to become lodged beneath it. Authorities said Gonzalez sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lakeland Niles Hospital for treatment.
Deputies confirmed that Gonzalez was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the incident, according to investigators.
Emergency response included personnel from SMCAS Ambulance and the Niles Township Fire Department, who assisted at the scene.
