Cass County, MI – A two-vehicle collision in Mason Township on Saturday resulted in one person being injured. The crash occurred at approximately 1:13 p.m. at the intersection of Cassopolis Road and Mason Street. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Jaime Anway, 47, of Wayne, MI, was driving eastbound on Mason Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Anway’s vehicle collided with another car driven by Martha Lee, 77, of Cassopolis, MI, who was traveling southbound on Cassopolis Road.
The impact forced Lee’s vehicle off the roadway. She was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Anway’s passenger, identified as 47-year-old Sara Anway of Wayne, MI, was not injured.
Authorities confirmed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor. The incident remains under investigation.
