Logansport, IN – A two-vehicle crash on US 24 in Cass County on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of one person and left two others with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at approximately 3:05 PM at the intersection of US 24 and County Road 600 East. Carrie March, 47, of Logansport, was driving a 2009 Ford Escape northbound on County Road 600 East. She crossed the eastbound lanes of US 24, failing to yield to westbound traffic. March’s vehicle was struck by a 2019 Nissan Rogue driven by Julia McElheny, 39, of Logansport.

McElheny and her three-year-old passenger were transported to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN, with non-life-threatening injuries. March, however, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She later died from her injuries. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that March’s family has been notified.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and the roadway was closed for approximately two hours while authorities investigated and cleared the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
