Logansport, IN – A rollover crash near County Road 500 East and US 35 seriously injured a Wabash man early Friday morning. Cass County Sheriff’s deputies discovered the scene at approximately 1:42 a.m., finding a single vehicle with an ejected driver about 100 feet from the roadway.
According to Cass County Sheriff Ed Schroder, Deputy Bryce Hamilton found 26-year-old Riley Whitesel of Wabash, Indiana, who had been driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on US 35. Preliminary investigations indicate that Whitesel drove off the east side road, causing the truck to roll several times before coming to rest off the roadway.
Whitesel was located near the vehicle by the first deputy on the scene and was subsequently flown by medical helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident is currently under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 574-753-7800.
