Logansport, IN – An escaped Cass County Community Corrections inmate is back in custody after turning himself in Monday afternoon, bringing an end to a brief countywide search.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old Scott Pearson of Logansport turned himself in at the Cass County Detention Center at 2:05 p.m. Monday without incident and is now being held in custody.

Authorities say Pearson allegedly fled Cass County Community Corrections at 2:47 p.m. Sunday after being informed he would be transferred to the Cass County Detention Center for rule violations, which violated a court order.

The escape was first reported when Cass County Central Dispatch received a call about an inmate leaving the Community Corrections Facility located at 520 High Street in Logansport. According to investigators, Pearson allegedly left the facility, drove away in a white 2015 Ford Escape with Indiana license plate DVT492, and later removed his court-ordered ankle monitoring device.

Sheriff’s officials said the ankle monitor was later recovered in the 1400 block of Michigan Avenue in Logansport.

Court records show Pearson was serving a three-year sentence issued by Cass County Circuit Court Judge Kitts on October 28, 2024, following a conviction for possession of methamphetamine.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during the incident by the Logansport Police Department and Cass County Central Dispatch. Authorities had previously asked the public to report any information related to Pearson’s whereabouts before his surrender.

No injuries were reported, and officials confirmed there were no incidents during Pearson’s return to custody.
