Carrollton, Ohio – Residents across Carroll, western Columbiana, and northeastern Tuscarawas counties are urged to seek shelter as a severe thunderstorm with 60 mph wind gusts barrels through the region until 8:45 p.m. Monday. The storm, moving east at 35 mph, threatens homes, power lines, and roadways from Carrollton and Lisbon down to Bolivar and Mineral City.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, radar detected the storm roughly 10 miles north of Carrollton at 8:05 p.m., tracking toward towns including Augusta, Salineville, Malvern, Hanoverton, Dellroy, and areas near Atwood Lake. Officials warn that the intense winds could bring down trees, rip siding from buildings, and trigger power outages across multiple communities.

Travelers on rural routes and major roads like State Routes 39 and 43 should use extreme caution, as torrential rainfall may cause flash flooding, particularly in low-lying spots near Guilford Lake State Park and Zoar. Residents are advised to remain indoors, stay away from windows, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Emergency services are on standby for downed trees and debris.

This severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 8:45 p.m., with additional watches possible overnight if storms persist. Stay tuned to local alerts for further updates and be prepared for sudden power disruptions or hazardous travel conditions.
