Spartanburg, S.C. – Triple-digit heat is gripping Upstate South Carolina and parts of northeast Georgia this weekend, with dangerous heat index values pushing up to 110°F through Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, a Heat Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday, with a second advisory set from noon Sunday to 2 a.m. Tuesday. Affected areas include Greenville, Spartanburg, York, Union, Chester, and surrounding counties.

Daytime highs of 98°F to 100°F combined with high humidity are expected to push the “feels-like” temperatures above 104°F to 110°F, especially during peak afternoon hours. The hottest hours will be between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, prompting concerns for outdoor workers, seniors, and those without reliable air conditioning.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration urges limiting strenuous outdoor activity, taking frequent water breaks, and remaining in shaded or air-conditioned areas when possible. Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.

Isolated thunderstorms may offer brief relief late Monday and Tuesday, but the heat threat remains the primary concern until cooler air arrives by Thursday.

Warnings remain in effect across the region through early Tuesday. Stay tuned for any updates as advisories may extend further.
