Caribou, ME – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through the afternoon and evening across southern Maine, especially from Route 9 southward. Heavy rain and gusty winds could pose a threat as storms move through, with potential for localized flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, these storms are likely to subside after sunset, though isolated showers may linger through the night north of Katahdin. The storm threat should diminish by midnight, but scattered showers will remain possible in northern areas until then.
Further north, including Caribou, the thunderstorms will be weaker and less widespread, and no severe conditions are expected. Breezy and cool conditions are forecast for Monday, with highs remaining in the 60s for areas north of Route 9, and more sunshine expected in southern Maine.
Temperatures will drop to the 40s and low 50s Monday night, with clear skies and cooler air moving in. By Tuesday and Wednesday, daytime temperatures will slowly moderate, with highs gradually climbing into the 60s and low 70s.
The National Weather Service also warns that additional showers and thunderstorms are possible again Thursday and Friday as a cold front moves through the region.
