Caribou, ME – Northern Maine will enjoy a stretch of pleasant fall weather through Wednesday before a late-week storm system brings heavy rain and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

Forecasters say patchy morning clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies Tuesday, with highs near 50°F in the north and mid-50s farther south. Wednesday will be milder and sunny, with highs again in the mid-50s across the region.

By Thursday night, an intensifying low-pressure system will spread rain across northern and eastern Maine, continuing through Friday. The NWS expects over an inch of rain across most of the area, with localized heavier bands possibly exceeding two inches.

Following the rain, strong westerly winds will develop late Friday night through Saturday, gusting up to 35 mph, making for a brisk and unsettled start to the weekend. Highs will remain in the 40s and 50s, with cooler overnight lows in the 20s and 30s.
