Caribou, ME – Northern Maine residents can expect an early October warm-up this weekend before cooler, wetter weather returns midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, Saturday will bring partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-60s across northern areas, while southern Maine sees mostly sunny conditions and highs in the mid-70s.
Sunday and Monday will feature “summer-like” warmth under mostly sunny skies, with inland highs climbing into the upper 70s and reaching around 80°F in many areas Monday. The warm spell will feel more like late August than early October, particularly across central and southern Maine.
By Tuesday, clouds will increase as a cold front approaches, bringing a shift in conditions. The weather service says showers will push into northern Maine late Tuesday, spreading south overnight. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible.
Rain will continue into Wednesday morning, tapering off from north to south. Forecasters expect a quarter to half an inch of rainfall, with localized spots possibly seeing up to an inch. Highs Wednesday will fall sharply, ranging from the mid-50s in the north to mid-60s Downeast.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the mild weekend temperatures before the pattern turns wetter and cooler by midweek.
