Caribou, ME – An active weather pattern is setting up across northern Maine this week, bringing rain and strong winds through Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, clouds will increase this afternoon ahead of a quick-moving cold front, with rain arriving this evening.

Southerly winds are expected to gust up to 25 mph today before shifting northwest late tonight. By Tuesday afternoon, gusts could reach 45 mph, especially over higher terrain. The strongest winds are expected in areas such as Greenville, Millinocket, and Bangor, where brief power interruptions and travel challenges may occur.

High pressure will bring a break in the weather Wednesday, offering dry and calmer conditions before another system arrives Wednesday night. The NWS reports that snow is possible across far northern Maine overnight, while areas south of Bangor will likely see rain.

Another brief dry period is expected Friday before the next system moves in Friday evening. Forecasters note that precipitation types later in the week are still uncertain.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, drive with caution in windy areas, and monitor local forecasts for updates.
