Caribou, ME – Northern Maine travelers should prepare for slick roads and changing weather heading into Thanksgiving, as light rain and freezing rain move through early this morning, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

Rain will continue to spread from south to north through the morning, with a brief period of freezing rain possible across northern areas. However, forecasters say warm ground temperatures should limit major impacts. Motorists are still urged to use caution on bridges and overpasses, where slick spots could develop.

By Thanksgiving morning, rain will taper off from west to east, leaving behind dry but windy conditions for the afternoon. A few light snow showers are possible across northwestern Maine, though accumulations should remain minor.

Friday brings another round of snow showers and strong winds, which may lead to reduced visibility and hazardous travel for those returning from the holiday.
