CARIBOU, Maine – A frosty start ushers in a crisp and quiet fall weekend across northern and eastern Maine, with lows dipping into the upper 20s and 30s Friday night and patchy frost expected even into Bangor and interior Downeast areas. The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Frost Advisory for the Bangor Region as clear skies and calm winds set up ideal cooling conditions overnight.

According to the National Weather Service Caribou office, sunshine will dominate both Saturday and Sunday, with afternoon highs reaching the lower to mid-60s across most of the region. A modest north breeze will keep the air feeling seasonably cool, especially in the early mornings when frost may linger in low-lying areas.

Travel conditions will remain favorable through the weekend, though early risers should watch for slick spots on rural roads where frost forms on shaded surfaces. Gardeners are urged to cover late-season plants and bring in sensitive vegetation. Residents should also protect outdoor plumbing and ensure pets have warm shelter overnight.

According to forecasters, a coastal low will remain well south of Maine through early next week, keeping the region dry except for a slight chance of light rain across southern zones late Monday into Tuesday. The next significant system isn’t expected until midweek, allowing for several more days of calm, mild fall weather.
