Caribou, Maine – A stretch of unsettled weather is on tap for northern and eastern Maine, with scattered showers expected midweek before a stronger system pushes in for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, isolated rain showers will fade this evening, leaving behind a cool, dry night with patchy fog. Wednesday brings another round of afternoon showers across much of Aroostook County, with highs in the mid-60s to lower 70s from Presque Isle to Houlton.

Thursday looks to be the calmest day, starting with sun before clouds return late. By Friday, a low-pressure system tracking into New England will spread showers across the region, with the heaviest rainfall expected Saturday. Locations from Bangor north through Fort Kent and Frenchville may see multiple rounds of wet weather through the weekend, keeping temperatures below seasonal averages.

Travelers should watch for slick roads during the heaviest showers, especially on I-95 and rural highways. Residents are urged to keep umbrellas and rain gear handy and allow extra time for weekend travel plans.

Rain chances remain elevated through Sunday, with clearer skies not likely until early next week.
