Caribou, ME – A cold front is moving across northern Maine today, bringing cooler air and clearing skies for the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, Thursday will start with partly to mostly cloudy skies in the north before sunshine breaks through by afternoon. Highs are expected to range from the mid-60s across northern towns like Van Buren and Fort Kent, to the upper 70s in southern areas such as Bangor and Ellsworth.

Forecasters say tonight will be cold and clear, with a waning gibbous moon rising around 8:30 p.m. Lows could dip into the low to mid-30s in northwest Maine, where some patchy frost may develop. Downeast areas will remain milder, in the mid-40s.

Friday will feature bright sunshine and cooler temperatures, with highs holding in the mid-60s to near 70 degrees Downeast. Another cold front is forecast to approach Saturday and sweep across the region Sunday, bringing the chance for a few spotty showers.

Otherwise, forecasters expect the dry stretch to continue into next week, offering several days of crisp, fall-like weather across Aroostook County and Downeast Maine.
