Caribou, ME – Much-needed rainfall is expected across Maine tonight, beginning in the west and moving east through early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

Forecast models show precipitation starting around 6 p.m. Tuesday near St. Pamphile and Dickey, spreading into Clayton Lake by 8 p.m. and reaching Caribou and Presque Isle near midnight. Central and eastern areas, including Millinocket, Bangor, and Bar Harbor, can expect rain between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to meteorologists, the system will bring a widespread area of steady rainfall overnight, offering relief after recent dry conditions in parts of northern and eastern Maine. While the rain is not expected to cause flooding, drivers should anticipate slick roads and reduced visibility during the early morning commute.

Showers are forecast to taper off late Wednesday morning, with cooler, breezy conditions to follow. Residents are encouraged to check local forecasts for updates and allow extra travel time during the morning hours.
