CARIBOU, ME – A low-pressure system moving northeast will bring lingering snow showers across northern Maine today, with 1 to 2 inches of additional accumulation possible, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.
As the system exits, a tightened pressure gradient will lead to gusty winds this evening through Friday, creating blowing snow conditions — especially near open agricultural areas and rural roads. Wind gusts could reach 35–45 mph inland and up to 50–55 mph along the coast and offshore waters, where a Gale Warning remains in effect through Friday.
The combination of freshly fallen fluffy snow and strong winds may cause reduced visibility and snow-covered roads, resulting in slippery travel conditions late Thursday into Friday.
Motorists are urged to use caution, slow down, and secure loose outdoor items.
