Caribou, Maine – Freezing drizzle could create slick travel conditions early Friday as cold morning temperatures combine with increasing moisture across northern Maine.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, temperatures Friday morning are expected to remain below freezing, allowing freezing drizzle to develop, particularly across northern portions of the region. This may lead to icy roads before temperatures rise above 32 degrees later Friday, changing precipitation to rain by evening.

Forecasters also warn of a winter storm expected Saturday night into Sunday. Snow is most likely across northern Maine, including the Caribou area, while a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain is possible farther south. Slick travel conditions are expected Sunday morning as the system moves through.

The National Weather Service advises motorists to use caution during early Friday travel and again late Saturday night into Sunday, when winter weather impacts may increase.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and road conditions as timing and precipitation types may change.
