Caribou, ME – Northern Maine residents can expect a surge of unseasonably warm and humid weather heading into the weekend, with highs climbing well into the 70s before showers return midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, Friday and Saturday will see temperatures around 70 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By Sunday, highs are forecast to reach the mid-70s, and Monday could approach 80 degrees in some areas. The stretch will also bring higher humidity, unusual for the first week of October.
The warm spell is expected to break when a cold front moves across the region Tuesday night into Wednesday. Forecasters say the front will likely bring light to moderate rainfall, with early projections calling for a quarter- to half-inch of precipitation. Rain showers will be widespread across Aroostook County and surrounding areas.
Behind the front, blustery and cooler conditions are anticipated Thursday, with high temperatures falling back closer to seasonal norms in the 50s.
Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should prepare for warm, sticky conditions, while commuters should anticipate slower travel during midweek showers.
