Caribou, ME – Rain is on the way for much of Maine today as a band of showers moves into central areas this afternoon, spreading northeast through the evening, according to the US National Weather Service Caribou.

Forecasters say temperatures will stay mild, near 60 degrees, with gusty winds developing later in the day. The rain band will continue into tonight, bringing light to moderate rainfall statewide, though totals are not expected to significantly impact ongoing drought conditions.

By early Tuesday, patchy fog may form across the region as skies partially clear in the south, while showers could linger in northern Maine through mid-morning. Another system is expected to arrive Wednesday, bringing additional rounds of rain and maintaining an unsettled weather pattern into late week.

While the rain offers some minor drought relief, officials emphasize that this will not be a drought-ending event. Residents should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility during evening commutes and early morning drives.

Communities across Caribou, Bangor, and Presque Isle can expect the wet, breezy pattern to continue through midweek before gradual clearing by Thursday.
