Caribou, ME – Mostly dry weather continues through Monday across Maine, but forecasters are warning of high surf and rip currents developing along the coast early next week, according to the US National Weather Service Caribou, ME.

A strong high-pressure system is keeping a coastal low-pressure system well south of Maine, maintaining dry conditions through the weekend. Highs will stay in the mid-60s, with nighttime lows in the 40s, offering a cool, calm Saturday before conditions turn more hazardous along the coast.

By Monday and Tuesday, waves of 7 to 10 feet and long-period swells up to 12 seconds are expected near Bar Harbor, Schoodic Point, and Jonesport, creating a high risk of rip currents. The Weather Service urges the public to stay clear of rocks and outcrops along the shoreline, where waves can surge unexpectedly.

While the early week stays dry, forecasters say there’s little to no drought relief on the way. Showers may return by midweek, with colder air possibly bringing light snowflakes to parts of northern Maine by late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
