Caribou drivers and residents should plan for a wet start to the week, as steady showers move in Tuesday, September 23. The National Weather Service projects rain throughout much of the day, raising concerns about slower commutes and slick roads.

According to the Caribou Municipal Airport weather station, showers will likely begin before 7 a.m. Tuesday and last through evening. Forecasters expect a high near 70 degrees, with calm winds becoming south at 5 mph. The chance of rain stands at 60 percent, but rainfall totals should stay light. Residents are urged to allow extra travel time and use caution on local highways, including U.S. Route 1, where reduced visibility may occur during heavier bursts of rain.

By Tuesday night, temperatures dip to the upper 40s with lingering showers. Wednesday brings a slight chance of morning rain, then partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s.

Looking ahead, Thursday appears mostly sunny with highs near 69. More showers return Thursday night into Friday, bringing a 40–50 percent chance of rain. Cooler, more typical fall conditions arrive by the weekend, with highs in the mid-60s and scattered showers continuing Saturday and Sunday.

With fall officially underway, this week’s weather marks the seasonal transition from summer warmth to more unsettled and cooler conditions. While no frost or early winter signals are in the immediate forecast, forecasters say the pattern shift could bring colder mornings in the weeks ahead.

Residents are encouraged to monitor daily updates and prepare for varying conditions, especially during the midweek commute.
