Caribou, Maine – Residents across northern Maine will face another round of summer heat Tuesday, with highs climbing into the upper 80s in many inland towns. Temperatures will remain warm overnight before a cold front moves in Wednesday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, storms are most likely Wednesday afternoon, and a few could become strong. Locations including Caribou, Presque Isle, and Houlton could see brief heavy downpours and gusty winds, with rain chances topping 50% by evening. Coastal areas such as Bar Harbor and Eastport will see slightly cooler readings but also face increased storm potential.
The heat will break Thursday as highs drop into the upper 60s and lower 70s, with lingering showers keeping conditions damp. Drivers should use caution during Wednesday’s storms as reduced visibility and slick roads are possible. Outdoor plans Tuesday should be shifted to the morning or early evening to avoid peak heat.
Cooler, drier weather is expected to settle in by Friday, though another round of light rain is possible heading into the weekend.
