Caribou, Maine – Dense fog and spotty showers could slow the Friday morning commute across northern Maine, but drier and sunnier conditions are on the way for the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, patchy fog and a chance of showers linger through early Friday morning before skies gradually turn mostly sunny by afternoon. Winds will pick up slightly out of the west at 10 to 13 mph, with highs reaching the lower 70s. Drivers are urged to use caution on rural highways including Route 1 and U.S. 161 where visibility may be reduced.
Friday night will bring patchy fog again after 2 a.m. as temperatures dip into the low 40s. Conditions improve Saturday with plenty of sunshine and highs near 63, though fog could again be a factor early in the morning hours.
By Sunday, only a slight chance of showers remains, with otherwise mostly sunny skies and highs near 72. Sunshine dominates early next week, with Monday and Tuesday both expected to reach into the lower 70s before cooler air arrives by midweek.
Residents should plan for reduced visibility overnight and early mornings but can expect a stretch of dry, pleasant weather through Monday.
