Caribou, Maine – Sunshine and warm temperatures will dominate much of Maine through Saturday, but residents should prepare for a sharp shift by the end of the weekend as storms and chilly lows return. Highs will climb into the mid-70s in northern and central Maine, while parts of Downeast may see temperatures soar into the low 80s.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a strong area of high pressure will keep skies clear and conditions dry through Saturday, but those same clear skies tonight could cause significant cooling, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-40s across northern Maine and low 50s along the coast.

Sunday afternoon brings the next weather concern as a mid-level trough moves in, triggering a chance for thunderstorms in northern and central regions. Gusty winds may accompany the storms, especially late Sunday. Overnight temperatures could fall into the low 40s by early Monday morning, raising concerns for those camping or without adequate heating in remote areas.

The threat of storms is currently focused on Sunday afternoon through evening. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, especially if planning outdoor weekend activities.
