Caribou, Maine – Another blast of dangerous heat will scorch much of Maine today, with the National Weather Service warning that high temperatures and oppressive humidity will combine to push heat indices into the upper 90s. Several locations could challenge record highs, especially in the northern and central parts of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a Heat Advisory remains in effect through tonight. Conditions will ease slightly on Wednesday, with most areas seeing highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Late-day showers or thunderstorms could develop Wednesday afternoon into the night, though widespread rainfall is unlikely.
The heat is expected to break by Thursday as cooler, less humid air moves in from the northwest. Highs will dip into the 70s in most areas, offering relief to residents and visitors after a stretch of sweltering conditions. Health officials urge people to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.
Heat-related advisories may continue until Wednesday evening, with the next update expected early Thursday.
