Caribou, ME – A damp midweek pattern continues across northern and Downeast Maine as another round of rain arrives Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

A large upper-level low moving east from the Great Lakes will bring renewed showers through Wednesday afternoon, particularly across the northern part of the state. Forecasters expect around a quarter inch of additional rainfall before conditions start to gradually improve later in the week.

“Moisture will linger into Thursday and Friday,” the Weather Service noted, adding that skies will remain mostly cloudy over northern Maine with a few spotty showers possible. Downeast areas, meanwhile, will likely see more breaks of sunshine and slightly milder temperatures, with highs near 60°F Wednesday before cooling into the 50s later in the week.

By Saturday and Sunday, high pressure will build over the region, bringing drier and cooler conditions — a welcome change for weekend plans and fall foliage viewing.
