Albany, NY – Roads across eastern New York could become slick within the next 24 hours as rain chances surge to 80% by Tuesday morning and climb even higher into midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, precipitation probabilities ramp up quickly overnight Monday into Tuesday, reaching 70–85% by Tuesday afternoon and peaking near 90–100% late Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Thunderstorms are likely during this window, especially across the Mohawk Valley and southern Adirondacks.

Cities including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Glens Falls, and Saratoga Springs will see the steadiest rain between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Areas like Herkimer and Old Forge could experience the most intense periods, with repeated downpours and embedded storms. Interstate 87, I-90, and Route 7 corridors may see reduced visibility and ponding during peak travel hours.

Rain continues into Thursday with lingering 50–70% chances, keeping roads wet and commutes slower. By Friday, scattered showers remain possible across the Hudson Valley and into western New England.

Drivers should avoid low-lying flood-prone roads, allow extra travel time, and secure outdoor items ahead of thunderstorms. Power outages are possible where storms become stronger.

Additional advisories may be issued as the heaviest rain approaches Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
