Albany, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) Albany says the region is in for a week of changing weather, with mild temperatures early on giving way to rain, wind, and eventually snow just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Monday will stay mainly dry, with highs in the 40s for most of the area. Rain returns late Tuesday into Wednesday, as a low-pressure system and cold front move through Upstate New York. Temperatures Wednesday will be relatively mild — reaching the 50s to low 60s in the valleys — before colder air sweeps in Wednesday night.

By Thanksgiving Day and Friday, expect windy and colder conditions, with lake effect snow showers developing, especially over higher terrain and areas west of Albany.

Travelers should plan for potentially slick roads and gusty winds later in the week as temperatures fall back to below freezing overnight.
