Albany, NY – After a chilly start and areas of patchy fog, skies are clearing across eastern New York with afternoon highs expected to climb into the mid to upper 70s in the valleys today.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, sunshine will dominate by late morning, helping to push temperatures 5–10 degrees warmer than the past two days. Areas like Glens Falls, Albany, and Bennington could reach 78°F this afternoon, with cooler readings in higher elevations like Hunter, only expected to top out near 69°F.

Drivers should be cautious during the early morning hours, especially on rural routes where fog could reduce visibility. The warming trend may also prompt increased outdoor activity; residents are advised to stay hydrated and use sun protection, especially in open areas during peak sun hours.

This brief stretch of fair weather is expected to continue through the weekend, with cooler nights and warmer, drier afternoons. No major weather systems are forecast through at least Sunday, but updates will follow if conditions change.
